SALMON PROCESSOR INCREASED PRODUCTION: FPS DDS SPIRAL FREEZER WITH INTRALOX DIRECTDRIVE STACKER

The DDS Spiral was installed at the salmon processor's plant in Punta Arenas, Chile, in December 2019 for the production of frozen vancuum-sealed salmon fillet and packed fish fillet.

A salmon processor in Chile was looking to improve their production capacity while adding vacuum-sealed salmon portions to their product mix. However, the previous batch freezing method, which required a high amount of manual handling to move products from one conveyor belt to another, caused energy inefficiencies and undesired production rates.

FPS partnered with Intralox to provide a solution: to install their DirectDrive Stacker (DDS) conveyor belting inside the spiral freezer to extend between primary and secondary packaging, allowing for continuous production. The DDS spiral ensured precise control of freezing performance, enhancing operational efficiency while reducing product damage and labour tasks. The salmon processor not only achieved a 33% increase in throughput but also ensured higher product quality. This brought great value to meet their future growth demands.
